McHenry Hohnen's winemaker Ryan Walsh could not have been happier with the harvest conditions this year. "We got off to an early start, but once the whites were picked, ripening slowed down due to some cooler weather in early March. This allowed some longer time for tannin development for our red grapes. The whites look great with beautiful natural acidity and slightly riper fruit characters. Tonnages were low thanks to a little Spring hail earlier in the season. In the reds the Tempranillo and Grenache are possibly the best wines MCHV have made yet and across the board all are showing excellent structure with great varietal fruit character," he said.
