2011 Ray Jordan's WA Wine Guide
93/100 Amigos White 2008
A blend of marsanne chardonnay and roussanne. Has a deep colour yet the wine is fresh and lively on the palate. It's in the Rhone mould with opulent richness that at the same time has a leaner and more prcise mouth feel than previous vintages. A little barrel fermentation, natural yeast and lees ageing has contributed to the extravagant palate. Beautiful alternative style.

3 Amigos Red 2007
A blend of shiraz grenache mataro. Has to be the best yet under this label. Beautifully lavish palate with soft fine ripe tannins, fine oak and supple medium weight fruit. Delicious ripe fruit flavours bounce around the palate with the fine gravelly acid sustaining the finish.

Rolling Stone 2008
Here's the thing. If you thought the 2007 was top drawer-and it was-then take a good sniff of this and then a decent gulp. An unusual blend of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot that hits all the right notes. Wonderful texture and with a long effortless palate that typifies this exceptional vintage.

Calgardup Brook Chardonnay 2009
Take the fine delicacy of this vineyard to another level. This is a beautifully precise and pristine chardonnay displaying control, intensity and lingering power in one fell swoop. A piercing acidity sustains the palate while the oak and fruit balance has been struck just right for this variety.

McHenry Hohnen Rocky Road Chardonnay 2009
WineFront by Gary Walsh Sept 2010
Some wines are a bit tricky and take a while to get your head round. Some have immediate appeal the moment you taste them. This is one of the latter types. Cool and refreshing with white peach, grapefruit, subtle spice and a sheen of almond nougat. It's light and fine boned but not lacking in flavour or impact. Distinguished long spiced grapefruit finish. Not a hair out of place but not short on character either. You stay classy McHenry Hohnen.

2007 3 Amigos Red
WineFront by Gary Walsh April 2010
I like the line near the start of MattinsonThe Wine Hunter that goes something along the lines of we are gonna have to shoot someone, we are gonna have to shoot someone to start a cemetery, because we are too lucky. I can't remember exactly the words, but rest assured, there's a lot of shooting going on behind the scenes here, and it's not a toy for every child, lest you were beginning to think that the spate of high scoring wines is a normal situation. I'm being selective, but soon enough someones going to have to catch a bullet. It's a blend of 43% Shiraz, 35% Grenache, 19% Mataro and 3% Marsanne.
Nice and earthy, spicy with dark fruits, cranberry and raspberry. It's medium bodied but richly fruited with an interesting dried herb flavour, like you get in the best of GSM blends, but without the confectionery characters that take the edge off. Lightly rasping tannin mixes it up with a slippery chocolaty texture. Length is excellent. Not The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, more The Good, The Good and The Good and superb company for any Televisual Feast of which you might care to partake.
