2011 Ray Jordan's WA Wine Guide93/100 Amigos White 2008 A blend of marsanne chardonnay and roussanne. Has a deep colour yet the wine is fresh and lively on the palate. It's in the Rhone mould with opulent richness that at the same time has a leaner and more prcise mouth feel than previous vintages. A little barrel fermentation, natural yeast and lees ageing has contributed to the extravagant palate. Beautiful alternative style. Beautifully lavish palate with soft fine ripe tannins, fine oak and supple medium weight fruit. Delicious ripe fruit flavours bounce around the palate with the fine gravelly acid sustaining the finish. Cellar: 3 years 95/100 Rolling Stone 2008 Here's the thing. If you thought the 2007 was top drawer-and it was-then take a good sniff of this and then a decent gulp. An unusual blend of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot that hits all the right notes. Wonderful texture and with a long effortless palate that typifies this exceptional vintage. This is a beautifully precise and pristine chardonnay displaying control, intensity and lingering power in one fell swoop. A piercing acidity sustains the palate while the oak and fruit balance has been struck just right for this variety. Cellar: 5 years |
