2007 3 Amigos Red

WineFront by Gary Walsh April 2010

I like the line near the start of MattinsonThe Wine Hunter that goes something along the lines of we are gonna have to shoot someone, we are gonna have to shoot someone to start a cemetery, because we are too lucky. I can't remember exactly the words, but rest assured, there's a lot of shooting going on behind the scenes here, and it's not a toy for every child, lest you were beginning to think that the spate of high scoring wines is a normal situation. I'm being selective, but soon enough someones going to have to catch a bullet. It's a blend of 43% Shiraz, 35% Grenache, 19% Mataro and 3% Marsanne.

Nice and earthy, spicy with dark fruits, cranberry and raspberry. It's medium bodied but richly fruited with an interesting dried herb flavour, like you get in the best of GSM blends, but without the confectionery characters that take the edge off. Lightly rasping tannin mixes it up with a slippery chocolaty texture. Length is excellent. Not The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, more The Good, The Good and The Good and superb company for any Televisual Feast of which you might care to partake.
