Vineyards
Cabernet was sourced from a vineyard in the locality of Annie Brook in the north of the Margaret River region. This relatively warm site produces abundant ripeness and full-bodied wines. Merlot came from a site near Witchcliffe in the headwaters of the Chapman Brook. This location is in the southern half of the Margaret River region where ripening is a little slower and the wines more refined.
Vinification
Winemaking is straight forward and follows years of experience with these two varieties in the Margaret River region. The pump-over process is used for precise extraction of colour, flavour and tannins during the primary fermentation. Skins are pressed at completion of fermentation and the wine is finished and matured in tanks, with oak. The blend is assembled and bottled in late autumn.

There is something distinctly Margaret River about this classic blend of cabernet and merlot.
The blackcurrant/black olive smells of the cabernet with the plummy curranty influence of merlot is both complex and enticing. The palate is tight and firm with tannins and oak neatly handled to capture the inherent qualities of these two varieties.
There is a certain fleshiness which provides early drinking appeal but behind that are some more substantial characters.
